Golden Love

FRANK & JACKIE VANELLISON

Frank and Jackie met September 10, 1985. I was walking to my dorm and he called me over to talk, but it was for another guy. Lol I can remember everything he had on that night. My eyes were on him. We talked a little, then they walked me to my dorm. Two days later, I saw him come out of Moore Hall and asked him to lunch. The rest is history! When you’re young, it’s easy to think you know everything. A lot of mistakes are made that can hurt others. It pays to listen to wisdom. I’m glad I had a lot of wonderful women in the wildcat family to consult with. That’s the blessing of being at a school like FVSU. Frank and I were so young, but we loved being together. I met my best friend on September 12, 1985. This is beautiful but a lesson was learned years later. Love is beautiful but can become ugly, when you haven’t had time to develop. My husband (Frank) says it best, “You have to become a man and woman before becoming a husband/wife.” We grew together and developed individually in time. Frank and I cherish our time in college and often laugh about the experiences shared. Our freshman year, we put a quarter under a cement slab near Founders Hall. We had to planned to go back and get it years later. The slabs were removed. Sadly, we weren’t able to retrieve it. I’m thankful for FVSU! It gave me the opportunity to grow, get a quality education, and meet the love of my life. This year is special. Frank and I will celebrate our 40th high school reunions, freshman class reunion (FVSC), and our relationship of being boyfriend girlfriend. See, you never stop being boyfriend/girlfriend, because the friendship keeps the relationship solid and alive! It’s nothing like having a true friend. Our union on November 23, 1991, produced two beautiful daughters. Thanks Fort Valley State University! Our love is golden!!!!
